When should I charter with SEA Fiordland?SEA Fiordland operates all year round as each season creates different offerings. Spring is great for wildlife, Summer is stunning for long days and the most rainfall, April is a great time for attracting hunters for the roar, Scallop season starts in October and Winter offers calm cooler days, stunning diving due to clear waters, and photo opportunities galore. In summary, anytime of year is magic!

Can you cater for dietary requirements?Yes, the private Chef is able to cater for dietary requirements, however, given that SEA Fiordland offers remote adventures, it is imperative that the team aware of this at the time of booking.

Are there age restrictions?SEA Fiordland supports multi-generational travel and welcomes guests of all ages. Guests 7 years and older are welcomed if accompanied by an adult. Please be advised that there are no dedicated child-minding facilities onboard nor are crew available to engage in child minding. Children 7 years and older must occupy a normal passenger berth and full fare apply. Guests wishing to indicate their preferences concerning travelling with children are encouraged to advise when making a booking.

Can we play music onboard?Yes, you can. Your favourite playlists can be shared via bluetooth. Set the tone of your charter by playing your favourite music.

Can I smoke or vape onboard?The Tasman Explorer is a non-smoking vessel. However, smoking is permitted on the top deck if it is safe to do so and does not interfere with other guests' experiences.

What should I bring?Every trip with SEA Fiordland is fully catered. A sense of adventure Any alchohol Snacks / treats Comfortable clothing for any season (Packed in dry bags or plastic bags) There are SANDFLIES!! We suggest some light leggings that you can wear under shorts if it is warm and a light long sleeved top. Just a heads up, these little critters seem to be attracted to dark clothing. A bug head net can be handy Good wet weather gear Comfortable footwear Personal Medication including any pain relief and sea sickness pills. We do have first aid kits onboard. Toiletries Sunscreen, Insect Repellent Cameras and charges to go with them. There are power points available for use on the boat during the day. Sweets and Chocolate, if you have a sweet tooth or any dietary required food you prefer. We can cater for Gluten Free and Diary Free and any dietry requirements if notified in advance. Divers must bring a sausage and a whistle or other signalling device. Wetsuit, serviced BCDs, Flippers Etc. Any dive equipment you may need apart from weight belts and tanks. Firearms for Hunting. Please have a copy of valid Firearms license, PLB or similar, a trigger lock and DOC hunting Permit

How do I get to Te Anau or Manapouri?Te Anau/ Manapouri is an approximate 2 hour drive from Queenstown, the closest Airport to us. Options include hiring a car or a bus service to and from Manapouri with www.tracknet.net If you need help organising Transport, please let our helpful team know by emailing hello@seafiordland.com and they can assist with this. From there SEA Fiordland will handle your travel arrangements with the options of either by flying into the vessel or a boat/bus combo into Deep Cove. We do recommend a night prior and after your charter in Te Anau or Manapouri incase of weather.

Will I get sea sick?There are no guarantees but we do find whilst in the Fiords, there is plenty of shelter in the internal waters. We do carry sea sickness pills onboard.

What is the water temperature in Fiordland?In winter the temperature sits around 11-12 degrees and is slightly warmer in the summer.

What fishing equipment is available?We have rods, reels, tackle, weights and craypots onboard the vessel. You are welcome to bring your own gear.

What about cellphone reception and communication?There is no mobile phone reception in the Fiordland area. We see this as an opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. So, turn your “out of office” response and bask in the Fiordland wilderness. We do understand in some instances, clients need to communicate with the outside world. For that reason, we do have internet available on the Tasman Explorer. All we ask is that your device is on silent to not interfere with the other guest's experience.
